Prof. Richard
A. Wright: West of Laramie -- A Brief History of The Auto Industry
It is safe to say that few people are
legitimately categorized as pivotal in one's life. For eMOTION! REPORTS.com
Publisher Myron D. Stokes, his father, Dr. Rufus Stokes, a scientist and
inventor, occupies that position effortlessly. There were others; Charles
"Doc" Jackson, a pharmacist in civilian life and during World War II, a Master
Sergeant in the Pacific Theater of Operations while based in Port Moresby, New
Guinea; Bill Biddinger, a General Manager with Bethlehem Steel; Dr. Thomas
Donahue of the University of Michigan's Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
department; the late Dr. Theodore Fujita of the University of Chicago, one of
the world's foremost authorities on severe weather and who lent his name to
the Tornado assessment scale; Ed Henry of Changing Times, Frank Washington,
former Detroit Bureau Chief for Newsweek and most recently, futurist and
Pentagon Consultant Dr. Sheila Ronis.
His first real forays into the world of
automotive journalism and analysis, however, were owing to the kindness,
patience and professionalism of former Detroit News Automotive Editor and
current Wayne State University Assistant Professor of Journalism Richard A.
Wright. At the risk of descending into a pun, he says "I thought I could
write until I met Wright."
One of Wright's latest works "West of Laramie
-- A Brief History of The Auto Industry", an E-Book published by WSU
Press, comes to us via this world renowned institution, The Antique Automobile
Club of America, the good Professor and his friend and colleague Jenny King.
The title pays homage to the marketing genius of Ned Jordan, builder of the
car that bore his name.
We encourage you to download and read this
excellent work, which is written in an easy flowing style that is Wright's
trademark.
Enjoy...
